PAST IDE MEMBER ACTIVITIES

ICONS ARE LINKS TO COMPANY WEBSITES

All investments on IDE's track record fulfilled these guidelines. The following companies are closed to investment. Ongoing or current IDE member activities cannot be disclosed to non-members.

In general there are only two kinds of investment; equity and income.

Income Investments made by IDE members have to be collateralized by assets, and IDE members have to title those assets. This policy has meant that IDE members have always been repaid their principle and interest, no matter what the ultimate fate of the Company has been.

Collateralized Bridge Loans
IDE members periodically earn 16% to 20% on collateralized bridge loans. The time frames are usually 6 month to 2 years. Examples of closed bridge loans are that were repaid in six-months. The loan collateralized by ‘Warehoused Rice’ and the ‘Rice Delivery Contracts’. The rice collateral was worth twice as much as we lent and it was held in escrow for the IDE membership. (Repaid and Closed.)

Westland Automotive
A loan to a 40-year-old auto manufacturer, collateralized by a 12,000 square food building at 9 1/8%. (Repaid and closed)

Telegen, Inc.
Investor Data Exchange members purchased this private stock at $3.25 a share. The stock went public in 1996 at $5 a share and traded as high as $15 a share. While the stock has dropped below IPO levels (last check) most of our members sold the stock at around $7 a share. Subsequently the stock price dropped to approximately $1 a share during the overall stock market drop. (Closed.)

Ryan Motors
IDE members lent money to a custom auto manufacturer at 20% a year. Principal and interest were repaid. (Subsequently the company filed for bankruptcy, however IDE members before of the collateralized loan suffered no losses.

(Closed.)InternetConnect Web Page (UPDATE: InternetConnect was affected by the telecommunications stock collapse, which included Companies like Global Crossing and Williams Communications, canceling the scheduled $100 million Initial Public Offering. IDE members purchased stock in the company at 31 cents a share, some of this stock was resold private at $2 a share before the telecommunications collapse)

UPDATE: Despite a promising beginning the company failed to achieve mass production. The sock market collapse closed off capital inflows necessary to achieve that production. The company has been acquired, the name changed to QBE Tech, and all of the investors stock protected during the reorganization.

Acorn Technologies, Inc.
Acorn concentrates on three of the highest potential areas of investment today: computer technology, digital communications, and the Internet.

Acorn owns six core technologies. These include disk servo, cache management, advanced beam forming, clock synchronization, secure distributed Internet computing, and Internet World Wide Web content management. Acorn will acquire and develop additional technologies that can provide a significant improvement in performance and/or cost over existing technology, can deliver an exceptionally high potential return, can be protected through patents or time-to-market advantage, and can benefit major companies through licensing agreements. UPDATE:  After spending $2 million in chip development Texas Instruments has passed the development of the 245% increased capacity Disc Drive onto Western Digital, which is very good news. Acorn has also met with SAIC, an intellectual development company. SAIC is opening up its divisions to Joint Venture with Acorn in developing new technologies. Also Acorn is showing good progress on 'Zister', which is in development of a subatomic transistor, which has the possibility of replacing all transistors currently in use.

Burstein Technologies, Inc.
Burstein Technologies, Inc. is coupling a new and exciting technology with the instant information processing capability of the Internet to revolutionize chemical and biological testing and the availability and flow of related information and products.

The Burstein platform will enable individuals to use specially designed CD-R discs and any CD/DVD reader attached to an ordinary personal computer to deliver a wide range of tests including clinical laboratory diagnostics, biological warfare agent detection, forensic DNA tests, and food and water contamination tests. Combined with our web site, data center, and e-Commerce capability, this platform will increase the portability and frequency of tests, thus expanding the ways tests are used. It will also capture and process these test results using our web site and databases, allowing us to offer users enhanced information and additional relevant products real-time at the point of need. (Closed.) www.burnsteinlabs.com

UPDATE:  Burstein has licensed its computer-testing platform to an Italian firm Metorini (sic) for $3 million. In addition Metorini is investing $3 million in equity in Burstein. In addition Burstein is going to get 32% of Metorini earnings on the technology applications. There are other companies that lining up to license the technology. On the bad news front, several others are using the technology in violation of Burstein patent holdings, which Burstein is pursuing to bring into line.

BarterNet
BarterNet is the world's largest marketplace for businesses to trade goods and services - offering an extensive directory of products and services for barter.

The company has created the first truly global barter exchange, by combining the thriving client bases, comprehensive product and service offerings and proven experience of barter exchanges located around the world. Whether companies trade at our Internet trading site - or work directly with local exchanges that are exclusive business exchange members of the BarterNet Exchange Network - they find what they need at BarterNet. (Closed.) www.barternet.com

UPDATE:  BarterNet now has 28 affiliates, and is now the largest barter company in the world. The company is seeking additional funding to actually purchase many of these affiliates to grow even further. To invest or not is each members right, so no one member has participated in everything. In addition, ongoing participations are constantly changing, making any kind of 'average' return calculation impossible, nor can any results be 'guaranteed' with past results being any indication or future results.

Politicards
In 1999 IDE members partially funded this low-tech investment where the expected returns are approximately 35% a year over two years.

These are casino quality, plastic coated playing cards featuring hilarious, but not "put down" caricatures of politicians and other political "players". (Closed.) www.politicards.com

Checkout the political players who made the cut this past election.

UPDATE: Politicards failed to match its 1996 previous sales performance. IDE members negotiated an ownership transfer of the remaining decks to IDE member control, and have hired a product sales firm to complete the sale of the decks through fundraising charity organizations. UPDATE:  So far this has been a disappointment. While initially robust the sales slumped dramatically into the summer month prior to the election. However, Politicards has inked a deal with a promotional company to the place the collectible decks in front of over 3 million collectors. No one can say how many sales this may generate, but more as we get it.

We decided that while it will probably be a rocky road through the mid part of the year, the market will come back. This may have been confirmed lately when the market tried to 'test' the previously lows on the 'recession scare' and couldn't, forming some very encouraging chart formations. As yet we see no reason to 'panic' sell at this time, and believe you could do worse then selectively acquire stock in profitable companies.

Venturestream
The Company has been 'folded' into a $1 million investment into RealFoundation, which is the Ernst & Young real estate development group.

Gerigene
They are shortly going to proceed with clinical trials on Cellagen. The company is also making ‘good progress’ on the search for the protein to activate Vivigene, the skin anti-aging cream. As primary an R&D firm, we don’t expect immediate returns from this, but the long-term profit prospects are excellent.
